When information technology comes to consumer chassis standards, the PC space isn't exactly known for tremendous innovation. Apart from bootless attempts by AMD and Intel to launch new desktop lath form factors (DTX and BTX, respectively), the last major new standard to debut was mini-ITX, by VIA, back in 2001. Similarly, most desktop chassis take evolved simply slightly since then, and can be generally classified as variations on a theme, with up-market place features like integrated fan controllers, LED lighting, or support for radiators and water cooling. But Corsair's 1000D is something of a unique play, in that it'southward a no-punches-pulled, peak-luxury example that includes enough infinite for two motherboards (provided i of them is mini-ITX).

Corsair1000D

The Corsair 1000D as well ships with a veritable blizzard of features, including eight PCI slots to support an E-ATX motherboard (an extended ATX grade factor), the aforementioned mini-ITX board support, dual ability supplies, five 3.v-inch drives, half dozen 2.5-inch drives, and a pocket-sized toddler. The latter isn't a literal spec, just with a chassis that'south 27 inches alpine, 27 inches deep, and a foot wide, we're not factually wrong, either. The video beneath explores the pattern in more detail:

The chassis supports radiators of upward to 480mm, a range of liquid cooling options, 180mm air coolers for CPUs (the largest nosotros've seen from Noctua are ~160mm, a 180mm cooler is roughly 7 inches tall), a range of front ports, and weighs in at 27 pounds empty. A few LED accents on the front logo and port lights are also included.

The point of offering the 2d chassis option isn't merely a gimmick — or at least, it's not a useless gimmick. Some streamers opt to build multiple PCs rather than merely one system, with a capture carte du jour used to laissez passer data from one system to the other. This gives those streamers the option to use a single chassis with two completely dissimilar systems, rather than dedicating space to both.

It's not a crazy idea, but the toll tag on this chassis may give some break. At $500, information technology's literally as expensive as some entire desktops that might otherwise handle the video recording job on their ain. The capture card would still represent an additional expense, only it's not every day you lot run into a example that costs as much as an entire system. This isn't the first ultra-premium case we've seen, but it'due south definitely one of the more interesting takes on the approach, at a slightly lower price point and less-weird design than the Thermaltake Level 10.

The instance isn't in stock all the same, but should be upwards for sale in the very near future.
